Growing up, one of my core memories was always having a camera in my hand. I remember getting my first digital camera when I was ten, and taking it everywhere with me. It was pink and it was a Barbie dream. At each family event, or party with friends, I was the resident photographer. Unpaid, and loving every minute of it. I was all about the angles, always ready to capture the shot in the most creative way possible. When I got older, my love for photography grew. I saved all of my babysitting money to buy my first professional camera in high school, I don’t remember loving anything more then that Canon. I found myself often taking hikes with my dog and capturing the calm nature around me in beautiful Nova Scotia. It became like therapy for me. But it was after taking photos of my grandmothers wedding (yes, remarried at 75, go grandma) that my love of photography changed years later. The pictures I took of them exchanging rings is what got me. Seeing the love in their eyes and capturing it as a memory they now keep in their living room and see each day made me feel so privileged. I felt like I was part of a moment, a memory, in a way that was so beautiful and precious. From then on I wanted to capture more, more love, more beauty in life, more moments and I discovered that photography allows me to do that often. I guess you could say photography has always been a big part of my world, and its something I want to share with my family, friends, and clients.
